Genesis 3:11 says, “He said, “Who told you that you were naked?” (NIV).
I love this verse as we see God asking Adam and Eve “who told you that you were naked?”. As God asks this seemingly simple question, we are able to get a highlight of a bigger picture. As God asks “who told you that you were naked”, this question gives us the detail of God implying I didn’t tell you that you were naked so “who told you” that you were naked?…
I want you today to take this verse and make it personal to you. Who told you that you were stupid… Because God is saying, I didn’t tell you that you were stupid, I don’t know where you got that from, it wasn’t from me. Who told you that you were to short, who told you that you are to fat, or to skinny, or that your personality is different or that your ugly…? Because God is saying, I didn’t tell you that…
Who told you that you would never amount to anything…?
Who told you that you were a failure…?
Who told you that you are not loved…?
Who told you that you are a disappointment…?
Who told you that you will always be alone because nobody likes you…?
God is saying, I did not say these things that you are hearing about you, it didn’t come from ME so, “who told you that”?
We need to be incredibly careful that we do not believe things that God never told us…
