In the midst of hurricane season much of the East coast is currently watching the weather. Many are reading articles, looking up information on how to be better prepared for the storm coming from the east and ensuing that their families are ready when it arrives.
Many of the weather reports are changing dates and time ranges constantly as they learn more, no one exactly knowing the day nor the hour that the storm system will arrive in their area just that it will in fact arrive sooner than later.
When I keep hearing this information, I cannot help but to think about the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Doesn’t what you read above seemingly parallel the coming of Jesus for His church. Matthew 24:27 says, “For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man” (NIV).
When watching just about any news or weather report they are constantly preaching to everyone right now to prepare, prepare, prepare.
This makes me wonder, how many Christians in the world today are actually preparing for the coming of Jesus?
Are you reading God’s word, studying, and trying to learn everything you can? Working to prepare your life and live pleasing unto the Lord in preparation for His return? What are you doing to prepare for the return of our Savior?
If you have been watching the weather, glued to the TV or Radio and constantly seeking information about the upcoming hurricane that is coming… then as a Christian you need to be giving this same effort in your relationship with Jesus and truly watching and waiting for His return.
The Bible says, “keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come” (Matthew 24:42 NIV).
Are you prepared for the coming of Jesus?
Are you ready to evacuate this earth?
Is your life in order?
Is your house in order?
Have you made the preparations needed?
Many people say they believe, but they are not prepared.
Many people say they believe, but they are not living according to God’s word.
Many people have watched the weather, but not made the first move to ensure they are prepared for the coming storms. It is a heartbreaking fact to know that many Christians too have heard that the Savior is coming, but have not even began to be prepared for His arrival.
Matthew 4:17 “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
