The Lord will Fight for You!

Have you ever been in a situation, a circumstance, or a fight and through it you felt all alone and completely overwhelmed. Maybe you felt defeated, discouraged, or just like that things would never get better and there was no way out. I want to encourage you that there were many others in God’s word who felt the same way you have. But, before you give up, when things are piling up just know who is fighting for you, and with you, and who have experienced may things just as you have.

In 2 Timothy 3 we gain an understanding how Paul challenges Timothy to “be prepared” because hard times are coming. He essentially reminds Timothy how he has been with him, witnessed his own difficulties and persecutions and how Timothy has been a good student. Paul encourages Timothy but also gives him a warning that there are people out there who are pretentious, hateful, and betraying. Paul is saying I have been through a lot, and you have been with me, and I have followed the example of Jesus.

I love how Paul says in verse 12 “In face, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (NIV).

We must understand that if Jesus was persecuted, then we as His followers should understand that we too will face trouble and difficulties from time to time. That’s life. It is what you make out of it that matters the most. 1 Peter 4:12-13 says it this way, “12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial, which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy” (NKJV).

As a child of God, know that the Lord will fight for you, and you only have to be silent (Exodus 14:14). Learn to lean to Him in your days of trouble and not to “be anxious about anything” but in everything you should be in prayer, giving God thanks, and letting Him know of you requests and needs (Philippians 4:6-8). Whenever you find yourself in trouble, down, or just overwhelmed in life call upon the Lord (Psalm 50:15; Psalm 86:7) and know that He is always with you (Isaiah 41:13).

You are not fighting alone! Keep fighting and know that the Lord is fighting for you!

Keep pushing and be encouraged.

Blessings,
Pastor Jonathan W. Pannell III
