Scripture: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” – Matthew 28:19 (ESV)
Devotional
As believers, we know the joy and transformation that comes from being part of the body of Christ. We worship together, grow in faith, and experience the love and support of a spiritual family. But how often do we extend this blessing to others?
Inviting someone to church is one of the simplest yet most impactful ways to share Jesus. Many people are searching for hope, purpose, and community—they just don’t know where to find it. Your invitation could be the open door they need.
Jesus made it clear that His church isn’t just for a select few; it’s for everyone. In Luke 14:23, He tells a parable where the master commands his servant to “Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.” This reflects God’s heart—He wants His house filled with people encountering His love.
It’s easy to assume that people will come to church on their own, but many won’t unless they’re invited. Studies show that a personal invitation from a friend is one of the top reasons people visit a church. That means you have the opportunity to be part of someone’s spiritual journey.
Let’s move beyond fear, doubt, or the assumption that people won’t be interested. Instead, let’s step out in faith, trusting that God can use a simple invitation to change a life. Pray for boldness, and take that step—because eternity is worth it.
Reflection Questions:
- Who in your life could benefit from a church community?
- What holds you back from inviting others?
- How has church strengthened your faith, and how could it do the same for someone else?
- Do you see inviting people to church as part of your personal ministry? Why or why not?
- How can you make your invitation more relational and genuine?
- What role does prayer play in inviting others to church?
- Have you ever been invited to church? How did it impact your life?
- How can we, as a church, create a welcoming environment for visitors?
- What would happen if everyone in our church committed to inviting just one person?
- How can you follow up and encourage someone after they visit?
This week, ask God to place someone on your heart.
Take that step of faith and extend the invitation—you never know how God might use it!
Easter is right around the corner, start working on your friends and family. Who all can you invite to church with you. Allow them to experience the same life-transforming power of Jesus that you experienced.
Blessings!
